Sol James is a force to be reckoned with, with a voice to match.  At home in multiple styles including jazz, soul, country and folk, Sol has used the past decade+ to perform, tour,  support other artists, and release recordings of her own original music, cementing her reputation as a sought after professional vocalist and performer. Her stage presence is vivacious, sincere,  and charmingly funny, with a strong and agile voice that can either shake the paint off the walls, or soothe you to  your soul. An accomplished musician, she has completed two degrees: The University of Manitoba Jazz Studies program in 2008, and the Canadian Mennonite University Music Therapy Program in 2020.

Erin Propp is a singer whose voice rings true with nuance and power, with rare clarity and precision. It is a tool of exacting expression, expertly honed. It reaches in to resonate; calling the listener inside, sounding the overtones of our shared experience. Erin’s debut album Courage, My Love (2012), written and produced with long-time collaborator Larry Roy, was met with praise and acclaim. The recording won Best Jazz Album of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards (2013), and a Juno nomination in the category of Vocal Jazz Album of the Year (2014). Erin can do it all, from charming intimate jazz club sets, to moving concert hall performances, and key arts organizations have taken note. Erin has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, and has opened for Gretchen Parlato at the Winnipeg International Jazz Festival. Erin is an in-demand vocal instructor, and a seasoned songwriter. Her music has been arranged for choir and is performed internationally. A respected singer across Canada, Erin has lent her voice to many studio sessions and albums, and has sung alongside luminaries such as Steve Bell, Michael Buble, Jimmy Greene, Jon Gordon, Murray Pulver and Mike Janzen. http://erinpropp.com/

Nadia Douglas' vocal career has come about almost by chance. For years an actress in television and motion pictures, since childhood she nurtured the desire to sing for an audience, face-to-face. That opportunity came when an open mic performance of  “When will I be loved?” won raves from patrons and press alike – prompting her to pursue her long-cherished dream.   Whether she is backed by a full big band, in intimate performance with trio, or accompanied by piano alone, Nadia Douglas' reason for singing is always the same; to rekindle the fascination, the enchantment, the excitement, and the magic, that the most memorable songs of a lifetime hold, for all of us. https://www.nadiadouglas.ca/

Charlotte Martin has captivated audiences with her expressive vocal styling’s and dynamic stage presence across Canada, the US and Europe. Her compelling voice and extraordinary talent have gained her rave reviews and acclaim. Blessed with a beautiful powerful voice and impressive range, Charlotte quickly generated attention and admiration in her hometown of Toronto; where her outstanding talents were showcased with Toronto’s best R & B bands. In 1976 she released her first single, and arrangement of “Dancing in the Streets” that climbed the top 40 charts on Canadian Radio. She has performed on radio jingles, television commercials and the music videos “Sound of Light” and “Prairie Soul”. She has performed with Gino Vanelli, and as a vocal coach for Courtney Love.  When Charlotte moved to Winnipeg, she started worked with the well-respected Ron Paley’s Big Band, and performances at the Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Jazz on the Rooftop at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and numerous events and functions. She has performed and recorded with Walle Larsson and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. In 2001 she was a lead in the musical “Godspell”. She created and performs her concert show “Simply the Best- The Tina Turner Experience”. She is a featured vocalist on Groove FM’s “Groove Lounge” CD’s volumes one and two, the proceeds of which go to the Hunger for Hope campaign. A compassionate and giving individual, Charlotte has shared her vocal magic at hospitals, churches, with seniors in nursing homes, and the Variety Club Telethon.  She donates her time as a vocal clinician at schools, colleges and contributes her talents to charitable causes. She does perform on a regular basis and as a vocal instructor.

The recordings will be available for two weeks.

The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra welcomes and shares its performance and creation of music - a universal language to all people irrespective of culture, race, sexuality, ability, language and gender.
Music is an agent of hope. A dynamic and valuable device that helps us to heal and to bring us together. The First Peoples of Canada understood this and used music to reunite, resolve and reconcile.  In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that WJO activities take place on Treaty Territory – land that was maintained and earnestly cared for by Indigenous peoples before European settlement.  Manitoba is the original lands of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and is the homeland of the Métis Nation.  We acknowledge that Winnipeg benefits daily from Treaty 3 water that comes from Shoal Lake 40.  It is with sincere sentiment that we recognize the mistakes of our recent and distant past.  In working towards a Canada that benefits us all, we commit to seeking a greater understanding of Canada’s diverse cultural relationships through continued work with Indigenous communities; we commit to live in ways that honour and respect the treaties that were made on these territories; and we commit to stewarding the land in harmony for all who will come after us.
